Meet the founders and creators of Power Plate Meals, Seth & Haylee Houkom.
We were both born and raised in West Fargo, ND which is where our first location originated in the Pioneer Center. Seth is a 4th generation farmer and Haylee was a full time NICU Registered Nurse when their journey of Power Plate Meals began.
Their dream was to create a place where people could come pick up a healthy, balanced meal that is not only fresh, calorie friendly, and full of flavor, but also convenient for the busy family and individual. They felt if we could create our favorite foods in a healthy way and make them taste good, we could get the general public to enjoy our meals too!
Their Power Plate Meals Journey
Seth and Haylee have a passion for living a healthy lifestyle and wanted to share it with our community. It started off as a hobby, and they never could have imagined it becoming their full time career. From starting off at Square One Rental Kitchen & Events in Fargo back in January of 2016 to making the decision to give Power Plate Meals a try, Seth and Haylee opened their kitchen and first location in West Fargo in April of 2016. Now three stores up and running, the 4th coming soon, and more scheduled to open in 2018!
Bring In The Backup
When we started it was just the two founders and Seth’s sister, Sheena, creating, cooking, and packaging all of the meals. They weren’t a franchise and had no experience cooking mass amounts of food, no road map on how to figure this out, and no idea if it was going to work out, but they never gave up.
The team worked for almost four months in their own kitchen without a full time kitchen staff and some how managed to convince one of the top chefs in town, Tom Olson, to join the team. Now, with a team of almost 30 hardworking, amazing individuals, Seth and Haylee are beyond grateful to have the absolute best by their side!
It has been a crazy year and a half, and the team can’t wait to see what this next year brings for Power Plate Meals! They have a lot in store and can’t wait to share it all with the community.
Thank you to each and every one of you who have walked through our store doors, who have ordered online, visited us at an event, or have simply given us a like on Facebook.
